Q. I love the latest shiny skin make-up but will it work for the wedding photography?

A. "Shiny skin" make-up is really the look of the moment. But there is a fine line between a fresh modern look and looking sweaty, especially in pictures. A glow is gorgeous and can be very flattering when applied correctly. A fail-safe way of achieving a controlled glow is to start with a satin finish foundation. Keep the T-zone shine free with out powder by patting one of the many mattifying lotion/creams over the foundation. Sweep a shimmery shadow over the eyes or just under the arch of the brows. Keep a sheen on your cheeks by applying a cream blush with your fingers, along the cheekbones and blend. Dot a bit more on the apples of your cheeks for healthy glow. Now add shine using a shimmery cream or powder along the tops of the cheekbones. Complete the look with either a sheer lip color or touch of gloss. Don't forget your body; use a body lotion with a hint of shimmer to complete the look.

Q. My eyes are fairly small and deep set. How can I make them look more dramatic?
A. For more dramatic eyes try sweeping a light, pale shimmery shadow over the entire eye, add definition with a dark pencil or shadow just along the base of the top lashes & ˝ way along the base of the lower lashes. This will really open up your eyes and make them look bigger. If you want to create a smoky effect, avoid using dark colors all over instead concentrate the dark shades on the outer corners in a V shape, elongating them slightly. Using a white kohl pencil inside the eyes will make them appear bigger too. Curl your lashes for an eye opening effect then finish with mascara. A few individual lashes on the out corners will also make a big difference.

Q. I'm getting married in the summer and would like my skin to have a hint of a glow. What's best the product to use?
A. If you want a hint of color on your skin I can think of no better way than with one of the many fabulous self tans. These have improved so much in the past year that it's impossible to tell it from a real thing, except that your skin will not be damaged or look leathery. Whether you choose one that develops over a period of time or an instant one that can be washed off you should follow these simple steps for a foolproof glow. 1) Always apply after a bath or shower 2) Exfoliate while in the bath or shower using a body scrub, loofah or body brush. This is a must. 3) Moisturize, this helps the false tan go on smoothly. 4) Now apply false tan using even massaging movements, making sure to cover all areas thoroughly.

Q. I don't usually wear much make-up so I only want a very natural look for the wedding. How can I achieve it?
A. Keep it simple. If your complexion is fairly even, all you'll require is a little concealer applied where needed (spots, dark circles etc.). Otherwise choose a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer. Eyes should be soft. Use neutral tones to define the shape, such as beige taupe's or apricots. Waterproof mascara in brown / black is a must have. Keep the cheeks fresh and dewy looking with apricot or rose colored cream blusher. Finish with a hint of colored gloss on the lips.

Q. I think eyeliner looks fabulous but I can never apply it properly. Is there anything that makes it easy?
A. Any eyeliner can be tricky to apply but there are ways that are easy and look professional. Start by choosing the type of liner you wish to use, liquid, pen or pencil. If you choose a pencil make sure it is of a soft consistency. Next look into a mirror and tilt your chin up so your eyes are looking slightly down. Now I find dotting the eyeliner along the base of the top lashes, is the most foolproof and flattering way of doing it. Try not to leave too big gaps. Finally smudge with your finger if you want a softer look.

Q. I have very slim lips. How can I make them look fuller?
A. To make lips appear fuller start by applying a light reflecting concealer around the outside of the lips and blend down into the lips. This alone will help the lips look fuller. Next using a lip color pencil out line your lips just slightly outside your natural lip line. Now apply the color. When choosing color avoid any dark matte ones they will make your mouth look small and mean. Instead go for colors and textures, which will enhance your lips. Light, medium and bright colors, in sheer, dewy, glossy textures. If you do want to try a darker shade remember to keep it sheer.

Q. I've a tattoo on my back, is there any way I can disguise it for the wedding?
A. A regular under eye or blemish concealer will not do the job. But you can still disguise it using special concealers that are formulated to cover up things such as tattoos etc. These are waterproof and smudge-proof so you can dance the night away without worrying that it will show through. Try Derma Blend (available at JC Penny’s) and Derma Color Camouflage Cream.
